Internships And The End Of College

Well my college years are quickly coming to an end and it's time for me to start looking for a job. Although it will be tough, I am taking the right steps to getting a job. I'm not exactly sure what I want to do when i get out of school but only time will tell that. I am taking on an internship when I finish swim season in a couple of days. I will be looking to get one with WKBN or WYTV and I'm pretty excited about it. I will be able to do anything that I want to whether it be shooting, writing, or editing. I will want to shoot most of the time so that I can get a lot of material to choose from for my senior presentation at the end of the year.

Tom!
Please go deeper, more specific and offer analysis in your blog entries. It will help me understand what’s going on and may spark additional exchanges, etc.

Your blog entry this week mentioned you’ve started the job search. What do you mean? Be specific. How are you searching? Reading job postings? Subscribing to job news letters or have you joined the NPPA? Have you applied to any particular advertisement, etc?

You wrote that it will be tough, but you are taking the right steps to find a job.
Explain the toughness as that gets to the heart of the self-reflection mission of the blog assignments. Also go into detail about these “right steps” as this is reflective and allows you to follow up with the assessment element of the blog.

You do address the internship step briefly and offer a smattering of what it will be about and what it means to you, but find a specific nugget about this step or another that you can write more on—offer me a better picture (be descriptive) and what it means to you. Go further with your expectations, outcomes and reservations. You mentioned what you want to do—but write more about why you picked this station, what they’ve told you, what you know from other people who’ve interned there.

Here are some things I want you to address in each blog to come:
Go beyond just a rough roundup or summary—that’s a good way to set up what you can write about, but develop a nugget or specific that will help you go deeper with reflection and self assessment.
1. You are to write a blog entry 300-500 words. My comment here is significantly longer than your entry this week.
2. You are to embed links—at least two—that will make your entry more searchable and will engage you in using the features of blogger.
3. Think about adding images, etc. to the entry.
4. Read and comment on at least five other blogs as a way to check in, get inspired, interact and grow with this assignment.

Any questions?

E-mail me and I will update you on how you can get up to speed on what you missed this week.
